Eucharistic Adoration
For those who believe in the Bible and the Lord's Supper and The Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a natural impulse. The faithful believe that the Consecrated Bread miraculously becomes Jesus' Body, a teaching well supported by Scripture and reason, as the preceeding links demonstrate!
So the following is a series of possible songs, prayers and meditations that a parish may wish to use in establishing their Eucharistic Adoration.
Opening Song: "O Sacrament Most Holy"
(Refrain) O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine!
All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine!
To Jesus Christ give glory, God's Co-Eternal Son.
As members of His Body, we live in Him as one. (Refrain)
Consecration
LORD GOD, I know I am but a poor sinner; but I also believe in You,
and Your love for me.
I believe that You gave me life, and that You provide me with all
that is good.
I believe that You offered me salvation through Your suffering and
death. Thank you, Lord Jesus. You asked Your disciples during Your
agony in the garden to watch with You one hour, let me share this
sacred hour now with You.
My Divine Savior, I may not have much to offer in return for Your
gift of life; but I offer You all that I have.
Lord Jesus, You taught me in Your Sacred Scriptures to unite my sufferings
with Yours; bless and accept the trials and pains of my life. Sanctify
me through your life giving Sacraments, and teach me through Your
Hallowed Word.
Help me to properly offer up to You in praise and thanksgiving all
my sufferings, as well as my joys. When I am weak, make me strong
in You. When I feel doubts, remind me that even the faith the size
of a mustard seed can move mountains.
Lord Jesus, You taught me in the Scriptures to take up my personal
cross and follow you. When I fall under my cross, Lord, help me to
rise and continue on, straightened by Your love for me, just as You
did.
My Lord and God, Your Holy Word teaches us to seek first Your Holy
Kingdom, and You promise all good things in return. Please help me
to make You the first priority in my life, in my work, in my prayer,
in my study, in my recreation, in my growth. I offer You my life,
knowing it is made worthy only through Your saving grace. Amen.
Memorare
(Think about your intentions, for those who are sick, or in need,
etc. Carefully say the words of each prayer. Non-Catholics who
may not as yet fully understand might want to click on this link first.)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection, sought thy help or interecesion
was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I flee unto you, Virgin
of Virgin, my Mother, to you I come, before thee I stand sinful and
sorrowful. Mother of the Word Incarnate despise not my prayer (petitions), but
hear and answer me. Amen. (Now say one "Our Father," one "Hail Mary,"
and one "Glory Be.")
Meditation Song/Prayer: based on the 'Anima Christi'
("Soul of Christ")
Lyrics - John Michael Talbot
Soul of Christ, sanctify my soul.
Broken body of Christ, make me whole.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
Within your wounds I hide, never to leave.
And at the hour of my death, guide me and bid me to come
With your saints I will rest...(pause)...
Soul of Christ, sanctify
my soul; Broken body of Christ, make me whole.
Meditation Song/Prayer: 'Confession'
(Based on 1 John 1)
Lyrics - John Michael Talbot
I see a struggle now within, alive in my soul, as I'm dying to sin.
I do the things that I hate, so I hate what I do, who will deliver
me?
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ, for there is no condemnation
at all.
This is the message we have heard, we have seen with our eyes, we
have touched with hands.
The Word of Life appeared, the Word became flesh, the Word dwelt among
us.
The Word of Life, the God of Life, and in Him there is no darkness
at all.
If we claim to have fellowship with him, yet we walk in the dark,
we live in a lie.
IF we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, the Word is not
within us.
If we confess our sins, and cry out to God, he will forgive and purify
our human hearts.
For those who are in Jesus Christ, He has given us of the Spirit of
God.
I see a struggle now within, alive in my soul, as I'm dying to sin...

Meditation Song/Prayer: Hiding Place (based on Psalm 32)
Lyrics - John Michael Talbot
You are my hiding place, O Lord. You save me in my distress.
You are my hiding place, you save me from distress. You surround my
soul with cries of deliverance.
Let every good man pray to you, in his hour of need. Flood waters
may reach high, but him they shall not reach
Let every good man pray in his hour of need.
You are my hiding place O Lord. You gaze into the secrets of my soul.
A hidden secret wastes my frame. I groan through the night, and cry
through the day.
I will confess my sin, my guilt I will not hide. I will confess my
pride and God will forgive.
You are my hiding place, O Lord, You gaze into the secrets of my soul.
You are my hiding place, O Lord...

Tantum Ergo
(Humbly Let Us Voice Our Homage)
1. Humbly let us voice our homage
Tantum ergo Sacramentum
For so great a sacrament;
Veneremur cernui;
Let all former rites surrender
Et antiquum documentum
To the Lord's New Testament;
Novo cedat ritui;
What the senses fail to fathom
Praestet fides supplementum
Let us grasp through faith's consent!
Sensuum defectui.
2. Glory, honor, adoration
Genitori, Genitoque
Let us sing with one accord!
Laus et jubilatio,
Praised be God, almighty Father
Salus, honor, virtus quoque
Praised be Christ, his Son, our Lord;
Sit et benedictio:
Praised be God the Holy Spirit;
Procedenti ab utroque
Triune Godhead, be adored! Amen.
Compar sit laudatio! Amen.
Let us pray. Lord our God, in this great Sacrament, we come into
the presence of Jesus Christ, your Son.
Born of the Virgin Mary and crucified for our salvation.
May we declare our faith in this fountain of love and mercy and drink
from it the water of everlasting life.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
The Divine Praises
Blest be God.
Blest be His holy name.
Blest be Jesus Christ, true God and true man.
Blest be the name of Jesus.
Blest be His most Sacred Heart.
Blest be His most precious Blood.
Blest be Jesus in the most Holy Sacrament of the altar.
Blest be the Holy Spirit, the Consoler.
Blest be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blest be her holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blest be her glorious Assumption into Heaven.
Blest be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.
Blest be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse.
Blest be God in His angels and in His saints, forever, Amen.
Song: Holy God, We Praise Thy Name
HOLY GOD, WE PRAISE THY NAME, Lord of all, we bow before Thee.
All on earth, thy rule acclaim. All in heaven above adore thee!
Infinite Thy vast domain. Everlasting is Thy Reign!
Hark the loud celestial hymn. Angels choirs above are raising.
Cherubim and seraphim, in unceasing chorus praising.
Fill the heavens with sweat accord, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord! Fill the
heavens with sweat accord, Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
In the days and weeks ahead, we'd like to develop a series of articles on issues that deal with ethics: Christian morality. Our faith is supposed to guide our actions, that was part of the clear meaning of Jesus' teaching. But if we don't know what our Lord wants us to do, it can be difficult to make the right decisions. As Christians, clearly, our conscience needs to be informed and conformed to Christ!
The first of our ethical topics is one that many give little or no thought to - the topic of birth control. When and how is it valid - and is it ever wrong? What does the Bible say on the topic?
This is your link to Martin Beckman's article - "The Bible and Birth Control" informative reading! Thanks, Martin, for sharing this with our visitors, members and friends!!
